Made in France Price: $1,200.00 ID Code = Eme-0001
This cultured emerald cluster was manufactured by the Gilson Company in France. This specimen was acquired over 30 years ago by the Fullwood family and its exact history is unknown, but it is surmised that it represents "flux method" emerald that didn't quite make top quality facet grade, so the cluster was kept intact as a collectors item. This is a very unusual specimen and a rare collector's item; if you search for another as I did to compare, you will likely be unsuccessful thus illustraing how incredibly rare this emerald cluster is. The dimensions of the piece are 4-1/2" long by 1-1/2" by 1-3/" thick with a weight of 7 ounces (~1,000 carats). For comparison, top quality Gilson flux emeralds are priced between $300-500 per carat, but obviously this is not top quality. The specimen was appraised by a reputable mineral dealer at $1,800, but we are willing to let it go for $1,200. |
