We spent Friday at the Sheffler Mine about 6 miles west of Keokuk. Since it was our last collecting day in Keokuk, Chrissy and I wanted to dig at the famous mine where an assortment of minerals can be found in the geodes. We arrived at the shop a bit early so we had time to check out the walls of the famous shop that are made up of rocks and minerals from all over the world. Tim Sheffler showed up around 8:00 AM to check us in and before long we headed out to the nearby mine to collect.

Digging in limestone doesn't exactly lend itself to an exciting story, so I'll let the following pictures tell the tale of the day spent at the Sheffler mine.
