While searching one of the boulder fields, I discovered a mineral that I
did not recognize sitting on a bed of green prehnite. To make it difficult, it was on the side of
a massive boulder and it took me quite some time to finally liberate this thumbnail specimen of
what turned out to be mesolite. Wayne informed me that he only has one or two mesolite specimens
in his collection and I did not see mesolite listed for the location on Mindat.org. So, I feel
very fortunate to have happened upon this relatively rare mineral. We also found some interesting
euhedral biotite crystals in ankerite and Chrissy found some very tiny fluorite crystals on
prehnite.

We stopped at a observation platform that overlooks the quarry on our way out
last Saturday to take some pictures. We hadn't realize how huge this quarry is until I saw from
that vantage point. When we got home and I was processing the pictures,
I discovered a panoramic function on my Adobe PhotoDeluxe computer program that for some reason
had remained hidden to me for 7 years. As you can see below, this function automatically and
flawlessly combined three separate pictures that I took from an observation platform.
